About Me

Hello Plant Friend! I am a Washington, DC native that is passionate about plants, science policy, science communication, and social justice. I am a plant ecologist and botanist who loves to figure out how plants respond to the world around them, especially in light of anthropogenic climate change. I work on a variety of different research projects that all focus on the conservation of biodiversity.

I am the founder of #BlackBotanistsWeek, an online campaign to promote, highlight, and create a safe place for Black people who love plants.

In my down time, you can find me reading (well actually listening to audiobooks), listening to podcasts about science, hiking, dancing, and trying to turn my home into a tropical desert oasis! I also love to travel and experience new cultures, plants, and foods! My favorite place to travel to, and where I did my dissertation research, is South Africa!

Learn more about my love for plants in my Plant Love Story!!
